Coach's Corner

Hey Las Trampas Seahorses!!!

Great job this week! You are all working extremely hard and I am very pleased with the overall effort that I have seen in practice. Keep up the good work! I would like to congratulate Trevor Martin (15/18 boy) and Molly Mudgett (9/10 girl) for being awarded the Swimmer of the Week Award; both swimmers have been dedicated and extremely hard-working this past week. Great job!

For the parents, I wanted to explain how it is I have been running the meets thus far; there have been several questions that I have gotten regarding entries in League meets  that need clarification. In League meets, there are a specific number of extra heats that can be added, which must be agreed upon by both team’s head coaches.  Some teams have more swimmers than others so the number of extra heats fluxiates from meet to meet.  Only swimmers in the first heat score points for the team; I have been rotating who gets to swim in he second heats of League meets in attempt to get as many swimmers as many swims as possible. Unfortunately, the season is heavily loaded with League meets in the beginning of the season, but if you notice, the remainder of the season includes several “B” and “A/B” where there are more heats available.I will continue to do the best I can to get kids as many opportunities to swim as possible. If you have any further questions please feel free to email me or talk to me in person. Thank you all so much for your dedication and understanding!

Lastly, City Meet is just around the corner and sign-ups are at the pool. We encourage EVERYONE to enter in 3 events this year.  In the past several families have only signed up for 1 or 2 events; however, this year we really want to make a strong showing at City Meet and the more swims the better! This is the biggest meet of the year so we want to see everyone there! The price is $5 per event. Thank you so much! GO SEAHORSES!!!!
