Practices
Daily swim practice is important for swimmers to learn stroke technique and build stamina, as well as build a rapport with fellow teammates and coaches. Practices are scheduled by age group. Swimmers are expected to make all practices if at all possible. It is up to each swimmer to check in with the coach when they arrive. Pre-season practices begin on May 3rd and are scheduled after school. Regular season practices, with longer hours, begin June 14th and are scheduled in the mornings.
There is no free swim during summer practice hours. Lifeguards do not come on duty until 12:00 on summer weekdays. Parents need to be responsible for their children at all times; lifeguards are there to watch the kids in the water and cannot be expected to control kids’ behavior on the deck or lawn areas.
Las Trampas Workout Rules
The following rules have been developed to ensure that each swimmer has the best and safest practice possible. These rules are important in order to promote a positive learning environment for each swimmer.
- Swimmers should arrive on time and check in.
- While a coach is talking, all swimmers are looking and listening to the coach, ready to hear the next set of instructions.
- Listen to all coaches’ instructions and try to complete all sets as explained.
- Before and after each set, the swimmer must have one hand on the wall while the coach is talking.
- Try your hardest in each practice.
- Always enter the pool feet first, DO NOT DIVE unless a coach instructs the swimmer otherwise.
- Do not stand on kickboards in or out of water. This equipment is expensive to replace.
- Do not hang on lane ropes, they are very expensive to replace.
- During the summer, swimmers may not play outside of the water during workout time. If you are unable to swim during the workout, you should not be at the pool.
- During the summer, swimmers should leave directly after workout is over unless a parent is present to supervise.
- HAVE FUN!!!
